What is a prop firm and how does it work?

A prop firm (proprietary trading firm) is a company that provides capital to skilled traders. The process usually has three steps: 1) you pay the challenge fee and hit the profit target on a demo account while following the risk rules, 2) the firm gives you a funded account (with real capital), and 3) trading profits are split at a fixed ratio, usually 80 to 95 percent in your favor.

The appeal of prop trading for Iranian crypto traders is clear: without tying up your personal capital, you get access to accounts worth tens of thousands of dollars and withdraw your profits in USDT. The main risk is just as clear: if you break the rules (the daily and overall drawdown caps), you lose only the challenge fee, nothing more.

Bitfa's tip: before you buy your first challenge, practice risk management seriously. Most traders fail not because of weak analysis but because they break the risk rules. That is exactly what Bitfa's Trading University and our free consultation are for.

Frequently asked questions about crypto prop firms

What is a prop firm?

A firm that provides capital to proven traders: you pass a "challenge" with clear risk-management rules, the firm gives you a real account, and the profits are split between you and the firm, usually with 80 to 95 percent going to the trader.

Which crypto prop firm is best for Iranians?

FundedNext, with official acceptance of Iranian traders, identity verification with Iranian documents and USDT payouts, is the top choice. FeneFX, a Persian-language prop firm that accepts payment in rial, is also a very low-friction option for getting started.

What is the difference between a crypto-native prop firm and a CFD prop firm?

At crypto-native prop firms (such as HyroTrader and Breakout), orders are executed on the real crypto market, with real depth and real slippage. At CFD prop firms (FundedNext, FTMO), you trade on crypto prices, but in a broker environment. The first model is much closer to what a crypto trader is used to.

How much capital do I need to start prop trading?

Only the challenge fee: roughly $30 to $100 for small accounts. If you pass the challenge, you trade with the firm's capital (up to hundreds of thousands of dollars), and many prop firms also refund the challenge fee.

Why do most traders fail prop challenges?

Not because of bad analysis, but because they break the risk rules: exceeding the daily loss limit, overtrading and using position sizes out of proportion to the account. Before buying a challenge, learn risk management properly; Bitfa's Trading University is a free place to start.

Can Iranians withdraw their prop trading income?

With Iran-friendly prop firms, yes: FundedNext pays profits in USDT, and FeneFX even offers settlement in rial. Stay away from prop firms that exclude Iran because of sanctions (such as FTMO); even if you pass the challenge with false documents, you won't be able to withdraw your profits.
